I sat down to pick Zoe and Cole's sneak peeks and every time I got to another photo of Zoe smiling, I smiled. I don't know how else to explain it. Her joy is just so freaking contagious and looking through these photos feels like being right back in the middle of their wedding day.
I never totally know how I'm going to vibe with a couple on a wedding day. Obviously we've talked, we've planned, we've emailed back and forth, but spending an entire wedding day together is different. And I think it's safe to say Zoe and Cole can probably expect an invite to our next trivia night because apparently we were made for each other.
Their wedding was on 7/11, and while I was photographing the cake table I noticed this amazing platter they had put together with all these little things that represented them. Their wedding date, a Slurpee, a Pittsburgh Steelers logo, just all these fun little pieces of their lives together. Earlier in the day I had also talked with Zoe' about the blueberry pin she had for her brother, a nod to their families blueberry farm.
Okay...I have a Slurpee tattoo. I have a blueberry tattoo. And we lived in Pittsburgh.
WHAT.
I realize these are all completely random things, but by that point I was just convinced that this was a sign. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be today.
And somehow the day just kept getting better.
I truly don't know if I've ever laughed so much at a wedding. Their wedding party was incredible. So funny, so much fun, and completely willing to go along with anything. They made my job ridiculously easy.
But the thing I keep coming back to is just how joyful Zoe and Cole were.
Zoe's smile in these photos is everything. Cole is so fun and easy to be around. Together they just radiate this huge, ridiculous amount of joy, and everyone around them seemed to feed right into it. The entire day felt like people were genuinely so excited that these two high school sweethearts were getting married.
There were so many really meaningful moments mixed in too. Zoe's brother officiated their ceremony and filled it with personal touches that could only come from someone who actually knows and loves them. The speeches were heartfelt and funny and had everyone feeling all the things. There were beautiful tributes to Cole's dad woven throughout the day that were incredibly touching.
It was emotional without ever feeling heavy. It was meaningful and personal and also just SO much fun.
I walked away from this wedding absolutely with my face hurting from smiling, which I feel
like is probably the best review I can give a wedding day.
Zoe and Cole, I adore you guys. Thank you for trusting me, laughing with me, and being totally up for all my crazy.
I am so incredibly happy I got to be there to celebrate the two of you.
And seriously. Trivia night. We're doing it.
