This wedding was a little different for me from the very beginning because when I met Cortney, I also got to meet the moms! Courtney and Collin live in Florida, so Debbie and Karen were handling so much of the planning here in Michigan, and it was immediately obvious how excited they were to give their kids an incredible wedding day. They put SO much into it. So when the day finally came and I got to meet Cortney and Collin in person, I was so invested in the whole thing plan coming together.
And oh my gosh, I loved them.
Cortney is absolutely hilarious. I think within the first hour I had already decided we were very much on the same wavelength. 😂 She is fun and completely herself and the two of them together are just ridiculously good. After more than seven years together, they still seem completely obsessed with each other. You see it in the way they look at each other, but also in how much they genuinely seem to LIKE each other. They laugh together constantly. They’re comfortable. They’re goofy. There’s just an ease there that comes from having already done a whole lot of life side by side.
And I think everyone else had been patiently waiting for these two to finally get married too. 😂 There was so much excitement around them all day. Not just wedding-day excitement, but that feeling of FINALLY, we’re here, this is happening.
If you’re going to come all the way home from Florida to get married in Michigan, I genuinely don’t know how you could have asked for a better day. The weather was beautiful, everything came together, and their families were there for absolutely anything they needed. After getting to know Debbie and Karen a little through the planning process, it was really fun for me to see all of their work come to life and, even better, watch them finally get to stop planning and just be moms watching their kids get married.
Cortney’s brother officiated their ceremony, and that was easily one of my favorite parts of the day. There’s something so special about a ceremony led by someone who actually knows the two people standing up there. He did such a beautiful job, and it made an already really special moment feel even more perfect.
Then we got to celebrate.
And judging by the state of the dance floor when it was time for me to leave, I’d say everybody understood the assignment. 😂 I left them in the middle of a PARTY, exactly where Cortney and Collin should have been after waiting for this night.
I think what I’ll remember most, though, is just how much everyone loves these two. Their families went above and beyond. Their friends were genuinely thrilled to be there. And right in the middle of all of it were Cortney and Collin, laughing, loving on each other and finally getting to have the day everyone had been waiting for.
Debbie and Karen, you did it. You gave your kids one heck of a wedding.
And Cortney and Collin, I’m SO glad I finally got to meet you. I had way too much fun with you guys, and getting to document this day was such a treat. Florida can have you back now, I guess. 😂🤍
