Lily + Jim | Private Residence | Ottawa Lake, MI

When I met Lily at their engagement session, I knew her wedding day was going to be something truly special. She's such a ray of light, the kind of person who just radiates joy and positive energy. Her love for all things vintage had me so excited to see how she'd bring her vision to life, and let me tell you, she absolutely delivered.

Jim and Lily created the most incredible 70s-themed celebration, and every single detail was perfectly planned and executed. From the decor to the outfits to the overall vibe, everything transported you back to that groovy era. The only thing they couldn't plan for? The 85-degree weather in October! But honestly, even that couldn't dampen the spirits of this amazing couple and their guests.

What struck me most about their day wasn't just the incredible aesthetic (though that was definitely stunning), it was the genuine love and emotion that filled every moment. Their vows were so incredibly heartfelt and personal. Listening to them share their promises to each other, you could feel how deep their connection runs. Their love wasn't just visible, it was radiating through every part of the day.

The toasts and speeches from their family members were particularly touching. Each person who spoke painted such a beautiful picture of who Jim and Lily are, both as individuals and as a couple. The common threads throughout every toast? Kind, loving, generous, and funny. Hearing story after story about the ways they've touched people's lives and brought joy to those around them was incredibly moving.

The 70s theme wasn't just about aesthetics for them, it felt like a true reflection of their free-spirited, fun-loving personalities. They created an atmosphere where everyone could relax, be themselves, and just celebrate love. What I loved most about photographing this wedding was how present Jim and Lily were throughout the entire day. Even through all the beautiful details and thoughtful planning, they never lost sight of what really mattered, celebrating their love with the people who mean the most to them.

Jim and Lily, your wedding was such a beautiful reflection of who you are as a couple. Thank you for letting me be part of such an incredible celebration. Your kindness, your laughter, your obvious devotion to each other, it all made this day unforgettable.

Here's to your groovy love story and all the adventures ahead!
