Kim + Jake | Big Rock Farm | Ida, MI
Kim + Jake’s wedding was my first time photographing a wedding at Big Rock Farm and OH MY GOSH. I’m going to need someone to send me back immediately. 😂 The setting is absolutely gorgeous, we had the most ridiculous late September sunset, and THE ANIMALS. I mean...it was perfection.
But as much as I loved Big Rock Farm, I loved Kim and Jake even more.
I actually didn’t get to meet either of them in person until their wedding day, which always leaves me wondering a little bit what it’s going to feel like when we finally meet. And then I walked in, met these two and their people, and immediately knew we were going to have a really freaking good day. They were SO fun!
Kim and Jake put so much of their focus into making sure everyone they loved had an amazing time. And they DID.
Also, can we talk about the WEATHER?! Late September in Michigan can give you basically anything, and somehow these two got the exact day you dream about when you plan a fall wedding. Sunny, perfect temperature, gorgeous light, and then the sky absolutely SHOWED OFF for us at sunset. I could have kept them out there forever. 😂
But I think my favorite part actually happened after all of that.
At the very end of the night, after everyone had cleared out of the venue, Kim and Jake stayed behind for one last dance. Just the two of them. We turned the lights down, put on some Tyler Childers, and for a few minutes there was nothing else happening. No guests to talk to, no timeline to follow, no one waiting for them. They just got to dance together in the quiet and take in the fact that they were freaking MARRIED.
And after spending the entire day watching them make sure everyone else was having the best time, I loved that they saved those last few minutes just for themselves.
Kim + Jake, I absolutely loved getting to meet you guys and spend this day with you. I loved your people, your wedding party, your ridiculously beautiful venue, and every bit of this day.
